Andrew Yang’s New Nonprofit Aims To Put Humanity First

Andrew Yang had a mission, and it was to move us a money-centered society/economy, to a human-centered world.

Andrew Yang is not a socialist, he’s a self-described capitalist and entrepreneur, and unlike many of his political counterparts, he sees actual value in the private sector. but Yang also sees the possibility of a better world. This is why he ran for president, why his self described #Yangang consistently echoed his motto of humanity first, and it’s why he started a national nonprofit to carry out the principles he espoused throughout his campaign.

A Suspended Campaign: A New Start For Humanity First

One of Andrew Yang’s most stalwart policy proposals was Universal Basic Income, or UBI, the idea that every American citizen of legal age would receive $1,000 from the government every single month.

And just as UBI was a major policy proposal throughout Yang’s campaign, it is a major focus of this nonprofit as well. In March the nonprofit announced multi-million dollar pledges that would be put towards a $3 million dollar pilot program, that would provide Universal Basic Income to recipients every month.

The creation of his nonprofit comes after he ended his campaign for president, and seems to be a way to continue the mission that he started when he entered the race for the Democratic nomination, and sticking to those principals of freedom and economic security for everyone.

Here are some of the goals of the nonprofit according to their website:

  • Endorse and provide resources to political candidates who embrace Universal Basic Income, human-centered capitalism and other aligned policies at every level
  • Endorse and provide resources to political candidates who embrace Universal Basic Income, human-centered capitalism and other aligned policies at every level
  • Activate new voters and the politically disengaged, particularly young people and the economically marginalized
  • Mainstream the ideas of the movement through podcasts, traditional media, and high-impact events

Ironically, this step to build a nonprofit is actually a full circle for Yang, who ran a nonprofit, seeking to bring jobs to places in the country that had seen major depressions in job growth, the nonprofit is called Venture for America.
